Primary election ballots mailed out across King County

More than 1.4 million ballots for the Aug. 2 Primary were mailed out Wednesday by King County Elections, the agency announced in a news release.

KCE is projecting a turnout of 45% for the primary election, down from the 2020 mark when King County’s turnout reached 56%.

In 2018, voter turnout was at 43%, according to KCE.

This year’s primary election ballot features 162 candidates across 52 offices, 42 precinct committee officer races, and six ballot measures.

Included on the ballot are races for U.S. Senate, Secretary of State, Washington’s 10 Congressional seats, 98 seats in the state House of Representatives, and various local races.

Voters should have their ballots in the mail by Monday, July 18. Voters who have not received their ballots by then can call KCE at 206-296-VOTE (8683).

Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Aug. 2, or returned to one of 76 drop boxes across the county.

The deadline to register to vote online is July 25. Voters can register and vote through 8 p.m. on Election Day.
