Police investigating after bullet grazes woman’s head in Belltown shooting

SEATTLE — A woman was injured in a shooting in Belltown on Saturday morning, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Officers arrived around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Vine Street and 2nd Avenue and found a 34-year-old woman with what was believed to be a grazing gunshot wound to the back of the head.

The woman told officers she was in the passenger seat of her friend’s car when she heard a loud pop. After she heard the sound, she immediately began to bleed from the back of her head.

The woman and her friend didn’t know where the gunshot came from. Officers found a possible bullet hole in the rear window and another in the passenger side headrest.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived, and the woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives will continue to investigate this case.
