EVERETT, Wash. — A man is in custody after police said he stole a dump truck and led deputies troopers on a chase from King to Snohomish County late Thursday morning.
Troopers say the chase began when an off-duty King County sheriff’s deputy saw the man steal the dump truck from a construction site in Seattle. Deputies started the pursuit and Washington State Patrol troopers joined it on northbound I-405.
The truck was finally stopped when spike strips were deployed on SR 525 at 180th in south Everett and its tires were flattened.
The driver then pulled over and was taken into custody.
No other vehicles were hit and no one was hurt.
Troopers said the driver’s highest speed during the chase was 63 mph.
