Snow causes problems on the road

Snowfall during Monday afternoon quickly caused havoc, with many steep roads becoming quickly impassable.

In Kirkland, a school bus with no children on board went off the road and into a ditch.

Forecast

Through the night, a Puget Sound convergence zone will still cause some snow showers (or a rain-snow mix) around the central and north Sound.  Accumulations are unlikely at most locations nearer sea level, but a quick slushy accumulation in heavier showers could cause brief travel issued.

At elevations above 300 feet mainly away from Puget Sound, there is the risk for slippery travel early Tuesday though the magnitude of problems should be far less than experienced Monday.

Scattered rain showers Wednesday with more widespread rain possible Thursday and Friday.  Highs in the mid to upper 40s.

Next weekend is looking a little cooler—again—with lows in the mid 30s and highs in the mid 40s with showers at times.
