In a press release Tuesday, The Washington State Fair Event Center and Pierce Transit announced it will provide a special express bus service to the 2026 Washington State Fair.
The Washington State Fair is open from Sept. 4 – 27, closed Tuesdays and Sept. 9.
According to both organizations, the Fair Express Service will operate six days a week, providing connections for visitors and employees. The service runs every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.
The service has two routes:
- Lakewood Station Route (Weekday and Weekend) serving Lakewood Station, SR-512 Park & Ride, South Hill Mall Park & Ride, South Hill Mall Transit Center, and the Fair Blue Gate
- South Hill Circulator (Weekends Only) serving South Hill Park and Ride, South Hill Mall Transit Center and the Fair Blue Gate.
The bus route will operate with regular fares payable using cash, credit card, digital and paper passes, and ORCA cards. Regular adult fare is $2 per trip. Discounted fares for those with a Regional Reduced Fare Pass (seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those with a Medicare card) are $1 per trip. Youth 18 and under ride free.
Pierce Transit routes 4, 400, 402 and 409 all stop near the fair.
However, Route 400 runs Monday – Friday only. Pierce Transit does not serve bus stops for local routes on Meridian Ave between 7th Ave and 15th Ave for the duration of the Fair.
