Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and injured Sunday afternoon in Tacoma.

The 51-year-old man was hit in the 4400 block of East Portland Avenue.

Tacoma police said the man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of Portland Avenue were blocked between East 46th and East 44th streets so that police could investigate.

Police said the driver, 24, was booked into jail for vehicular assault.
