A semi truck carrying gasoline overturned at the intersection of Chelan Ave Southwest and Delridge Way Southwest in West Seattle, causing road and ramp closures during the morning commute.
The truck overturned at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday night under the West Seattle Bridge and was leaking fuel. The remaining fuel was drained from the truck and then tow trucks uprighted the overturned tanker before it was towed from the scene.
Firefighters sprayed foam to keep fuel fumes out of the air and to keep the fuel from igniting.
The intersection where the truck crashed did not reopen until 10:25 am.
Drivers were also unable to get onto the bridge from Delridge, the West Seattle Bridge off-ramp to Delridge was closed and the lower level West Seattle swing bridge was closed as well. Those all reopened at 8:20 a.m.
The driver was able to get out of the truck, according to firefighters.
