MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A 36-year-old Othello man was arrested on a Friday morning after allegedly breaking into a Moses Lake business and jumping into a lake to escape police.
The Moses Lake Police Department (MLPD) says officers located the suspect hiding in cattails near Alder Fill following a search on foot and by drone.
MLPD officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress on East Broadway after a business owner chased the suspect off the property. Officers arrived shortly after and began searching the surrounding area.
Police tracked the suspect to the lake, where he was hiding among cattails near Alder Fill. They say K9 Officer Brad Zook constructed a makeshift pier into the cattails to recover evidence left behind by the suspect.
The man was booked into jail on a charge of burglary.
