PUYALLUP, Wash. — Advocates are planning another march in Tacoma next weekend calling for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to stay off the Puyallup Reservation.
The “ICE Off Our Land” march is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3:30 p.m. Organizers say participants will gather in a parking lot near the Puyallup Tribe Administration Building and march to the ICE detention center in Tacoma.
The demonstration will focus on tribal sovereignty and concerns about ICE’s presence on the reservation, organizers say.
The event follows a similar community-led demonstration held Saturday.
Organizers emphasized that individual Puyallup Tribal members and community members are organizing the march. It is not an official event of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians or its tribal government.
