One taken to hospital after apparent shooting along Aurora Avenue in North Seattle

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating a shooting at a North Seattle gas station, cordoning off the ARCO parking lot at the corner of Aurora Avenue and Northgate Way with crime scene tape early Tuesday morning.

At around 5:20 a.m., the Seattle Dept. of Transportation told drivers to use caution and avoid the area while police investigated, with North 105th Street (which turns into North Northgate Way) between Midvale Avenue North and Aurora Avenue North blocked in both directions.

KIRO 7 reporter Tyrah Majors was on the scene as SPD set out evidence markers in and around the parking lot.

According to SPD, gunfire erupted around 4:45 a.m. Tuesday morning. A delivery driver was reportedly hit by possible flying glass, but was not the target.

“Officers arrived and found a 44-year-old man with scratches to his head that may have been caused by glass fragments,” SPD wrote in its crime blotter.

The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that responding medics took the man to the hospital.

Police said a gold Chevy SUV was targeted and later found abandoned near North 105th Street and Fremont Avenue North.

“Police believe the SUV was targeted in the shooting and are treating it as a victim vehicle,” SPD added. “Officers also recovered shell casings across the street from the gas station.”

No suspects are in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD’s Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
