One injured, arrested for DUI after crashing into telephone pole in North Seattle

SEATTLE — A driver was hurt and arrested for DUI after crashing into a telephone pole in North Seattle early Monday morning, police say.

Seattle Police Department officers first responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a building along North 105th Street, near the intersection of Greenwood Avenue North, just before 4 a.m.

According to SPD, the driver hit a telephone pole and knocked down power lines before hitting the building.

Seattle Fire Department medics responded and reported that the driver was a 20-year-old man who was able to get out of the car himself.

SPD says the driver’s leg was injured in the crash, and paramedics took him to Harborview in stable condition. Police also confirmed he was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Greenwood Avenue North was temporarily closed in both directions while crews worked to clean up the downed pole and power lines.
