BOTHELL, Wash. — Drivers traveling through Bothell should prepare for delays this weekend as all northbound lanes of Interstate 405 close between State Route 522 and State Route 527.

The closure begins at 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, and is scheduled to last until 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

WSDOT said drivers should expect heavier traffic and longer travel times on northbound I-5 and through Bothell as traffic shifts to other routes.

Several northbound I-405 ramps will also close during the weekend:

  • Northeast 128th Street on-ramp
  • Northeast 132nd Street on-ramp
  • Northeast 160th Street on-ramp
  • SR 522 on-ramps
  • Northeast 195th Street on- and off-ramps at Exit 24
  • SR 527 off-ramp at Exit 26

The closure will allow crews to remove part of the pedestrian bridge at the Canyon Park Park and Ride. The work is part of WSDOT’s I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project.

The existing pedestrian bridge is being removed to make room for the expansion of I-405 through Bothell. A new pedestrian bridge will eventually connect to the future Stride bus rapid transit station being built in the median of the freeway. WSDOT expects the new bridge to open in 2028.

The Canyon Park Park and Ride will also close from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday while crews remove the elevator serving the pedestrian bridge.

Bus stops at the park and ride will be closed during the weekend, although bus service will continue along scheduled routes using alternate pick-up and drop-off locations. Pedestrians who need to cross I-405 can use Community Transit routes 106 or 120 or a temporary construction shuttle.

WSDOT is encouraging travelers to use transit when possible, allow additional travel time and check real-time traffic conditions before leaving.
