SEATTLE — Two days after a conversation with Axios, the Seahawks’ new owner is setting the record straight.
Vinod Khosla, who, along with his family, purchased the Seahawks for a record $9.6 billion before the start of the season, is tired of the relocation questions.
In the Axios article, when asked about keeping the Seahawks in Seattle, Khosla
“I will never say never. Will this team be in Seattle 500 years from now?” Khosla said in the article.
The quote quickly spread across social media, alarming diehard Seahawks fans.
That being said, the second portion of the quote reveals a less alarming stance from Khosla.
“I have no current plans to change anything about the team, including the coach, president, operation or Lumen Field,” Khosla said. “It all functions well.”
After the first quote took off (and the second went overlooked), Khosla took to X to clarify his stance on relocation.
“To all Seahawks fans and 12s, we have no plans to move the team, have never discussed it, haven’t even thought about it,” Khosla wrote on X. “End of story. I’ve said repeatedly we have no plans to change anything.”

Khosla then continues to say that media outlets and social media users solely focused on the initial quote is “dishonest.”
“Feel sad for the reporters looking for views and clicks who distort my answer out of context and sent an entire city into a spiral for no reason,” Khosla wrote on X. “I don’t tolerate media getting away with bad reporting to get clicks.
Yes I did say "never say never because i cannot predict 500 years out". Taking only first three words is dishonest. And I will stick with it. I have not even thought about moving, or ever discussed it with anyone! https://t.co/9jYAUyMcrs
