EVERETT, Wash. — A new member of the Boeing 737 MAX family is set to hit the market soon, as the FAA certified the 737-10 plane Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The 737-10, described as the “newest and largest” member of the MAX line, can fit anywhere from 185 to 210 passengers in a typical setup, according to Boeing.
Boeing also says that the 737-10 offers the “lowest per seat costs of any single-aisle airplane” and new safety enhancements, including a better “Angle-of-Attack” system.
“Completing the certification program clears the path for us to deliver a Boeing airplane that will set a new standard in commercial aviation,” President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Stephanie Pope said. “The 737-10 offers greater capacity, longer range and the best seat economics in its class, a platform that will create more value and opportunities for airlines around the world.”
Boeing says 30 customers have already purchased 1,555, 737-10 models so far, with the new model accounting for more than 30% current orders.
With the certification of the 737-10, Boeing says it has completed its 737 MAX line of planes.
