MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. — If you’re looking for a weekend outing with your four-legged family member, Mountlake Terrace’s WagFest is back for its second year.
The pet-focused festival is set for Saturday on the Evergreen Playfields Track, where animal lovers can bring their pets and enjoy a day filled with activities, local businesses and entertainment.
The event is presented by the Seattle Kennel Club, Dogg!t, and Making Local. Organizers say WagFest welcomes all types of pets and will feature dozens of local vendors, food trucks, live music and more.
“If you like animals, you should come. That’s the pitch,” said Sarah Frost, owner of Making Local. “If you’re a pet person, you should be there.”
Dog-focused activities will also be a major part of the festival.
“Doggit is so excited to partner with WagFest and bring the community a great event,” said Carley Simpson, co-founder of Doggit. “We have a ton of dogs coming, we have Meet the Breeds. You can do CGC testing or trick dog testing if your dog does tricks.”
Attendees will be able to learn about different breeds of dogs, and they will also have the opportunity to learn more about canine behavior and training.
“We’re going to have a lot of behavioral psychology-based training,” said Cameron Simpson, co-founder of Doggit. “So, the understanding of why behind your dog. Why does your dog do certain things, etc.”
