A motorcyclist was hospitalized and is now facing a possible DUI charge after slamming into an SUV near Poulsbo last night.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash near the intersection of NE Hoffs Drive and Brownsville Highway NE just after 5 p.m. Sunday.
An SUV driver reportedly told deputies he slowed at a stop sign before proceeding onto NE Hoffs Drive when two motorcycles came speeding toward his vehicle. One swerved to avoid the SUV, but the second collided with the rear passenger-side panel, deputies say.
According to the sheriff’s office, the motorcyclist was conscious and alert and admitted to deputies that he had consumed two beers and was speeding. He was taken to Saint Michael Medical Center, where a blood draw was performed to determine his level of intoxication. Deputies confirmed that no one else was injured in the crash.
“More than 100 motorcyclists were killed in collisions in Washington state in 2025,” wrote the sheriff’s office. “Impairment by drugs and alcohol was among the top behavioral risks. Be safe on the road; don’t drink and ride.”
