MONROE — A local nurse is off the job and facing four felony counts of indecent liberties after three patients accused him of sexual assault.
The women, all patients at EvergreenHealth Monroe, levied shocking claims against former nurse Stephen Odingo.
A KIRO 7 crew headed to Odingo’s home in Marysville to get his response to the allegations when a person who was walking into the house said he would not comment.
“No, absolutely not,” the person said when asked if Odingo would respond to the allegations. The person then went inside but came back out and stood inches from the news camera to block the crew from taking video of the house.
Odingo may not have commented but charging documents obtained by KIRO 7 outline the case.
The first incident was reported in July 2024. A woman told police she checked into the hospital and Odingo asked her to remove all her clothing.
She said Odingo “grabbed both [her] breasts and started to massage them” then “went down the front of her underwear with his hand,” according to the charging documents.
A second victim said that, in January 2025, Odingo repeatedly hugged her and held her hand, then asked her to remove her bra. When she refused, Odingo reportedly tried to remove it himself, according to the charging documents.
Investigators said, in both cases, the women reported Odingo and he was removed from their care teams.
Days later, a third victim reported Odingo. She told investigators she was nervous about her treatment and initially thought Odingo’s behavior was an attempt to comfort her, according to the charging documents.
She told police Odingo gave her a back massage, then told her, ‘Maybe you can take care of me sometime’ before kissing her on the mouth through his mask, according to the charging documents.
She said Odingo later squeezed her breasts so hard she started crying, after which he again tried to hug and kiss her before touching her genitals in such a way that she knew something was not right, according to the charging documents.
Following the third report, Odingo was reportedly suspended from work, then resigned later that month.
About six months passed between the time of the first alleged assault and Odingo being investigated by the hospital.
KIRO 7 reached out to EvergreenHealth to find out why.
“EvergreenHealth Monroe’s top priority is the safety of our patients, and we value the trust our community places in the care we provide,” the hospital said in a statement. “The individual being charged is no longer employed by EvergreenHealth Monroe. We have and will continue to cooperate with the Monroe Police Department and the Washington State Department of Health. We are unable to comment further as this is an ongoing legal matter.”
Snohomish County jail records indicate Odingo has not been booked. He is set to be arraigned Oct. 7, 2026.
