Monroe motorcycle officer hit by DUI driver

MONROE, Wash. — An officer was hurt, and a driver suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after a crash in Monroe on Tuesday.

Before 3 p.m., a motorcycle officer was rear-ended by a driver in a Subaru station wagon near the intersection of eastbound State Route 2 and Lewis Street.

Police said the officer was taken to EvergreenHealth with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver in the Subaru, a 35-year-old man, was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

The Snohomish County collision unit will investigate the crash.
