SEATTLE — Air quality is slowly improving with some spots in Western Washington in the good range and a lot of areas in the moderate range.

More fresh air will move in on Tuesday with improving air quality and cool temperatures.

It will be cloudy to start, with mostly cloudy skies at noon and then partly sunny skies this afternoon. Highs will be in the low-70s.

There’s little change in the forecast except we ought to have better air quality west of the Cascades Wednesday through Friday and probably a bit more sun. Seattle highs will be in the low 70s. We could see some drizzle with morning cloud cover.

Of note will be the steadily-decreasing morning lows: from the mid and upper 50s for Seattle Tuesday morning to perhaps some 40s to low 50s by the weekend.

We’re losing more than three minutes of daylight each day and thus our nighttime cooling period is getting three minutes longer each day.

Now that the heat is done (likely for the summer), overnight lows will start getting a bit more chilly.
