SEATTLE — Seattle police said they arrested two men in a stolen car who caught the attention of officers by driving with their trunk open.
Officers first saw the Ford Crown Victoria at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday near 10th Avenue and Dearborn St. When they ran the car’s Oregon license plate, it showed it was reported stolen and that a gun was in the car when it was taken.
Officers tailed the car onto I-5, called for backup and then pulled the driver over
near the SR 520 Montlake exit.
The 25-year-old driver was ordered out of the car. Police said when he got out he dropped a sweatshirt that contained a handgun magazine.
Police found the stolen handgun and two more magazines. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
Police said the 24-year-old passenger was wanted on a Washington State Department of Corrections warrant. He began vomiting and told officers he had swallowed drugs. He was then taken to Harborview.
The driver was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm and identity theft.
