Suspect in Spokane murder now in custody

Donovan L. Gibson, Spokane murder suspect

SPOKANE, Wash. — UPDATE, 7:39 a.m: Spokane police say the man is in custody.

Original story:

Spokane police are looking for a man they say attacked his ex-girlfriend and killed a man.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of North Stone by a woman who said her ex-boyfriend, who was known to be armed in the past, was trying to break into her home.

When officers arrived three minutes later, they heard a woman screaming inside the home, so they forced their way in and found an injured woman and a dead man.

The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said they identified 35-year-old Donovan L. Gibson as the suspect. He was seen driving a teal or green 1995 Subaru Legacy station wagon with WA license #BIZ5826.

Police warned that anyone who sees Gibson should not approach him, as he is believed to be armed.

Anyone with information on Gibson's whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
