Man shot in front of Shoreline Safeway

A window was broken by the gunfire.

SHORELINE, Wash. — Employees at a Safeway in Shoreline saw a man get shot right outside the store early Thursday.

It happened around 1:40 a.m. at the store on the corner of Aurora Ave N and I55th St N.

The victim, who is in his 40s, was shot in the arm at least once. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The King County Sheriff’s Office brought in a police dog, but it was unable to track the suspect, who police only described as a mixed-race man.

Video from the scene showed a broken window at the front of the store.

Witness Colin Anderson said there was a fight in the store parking lot or an adjacent lot that’s connected by stairs.

“We had five shots going off after a dog fight, so I just closed the doors and I heard the gunshots,” said Anderson.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from outside the Safeway.
