Driver involved in fatal hit-and-run collision on SR 164 located, connected to previous crash

ENUMCLAW, Wash. — Authorities have located the vehicle and driver believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian on State Route 164 on Saturday.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 22-year-old man was walking westbound on SR 164, west of 228th Avenue Southeast in Enumclaw, between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m., when he was struck by a black SUV traveling eastbound.

He died on the north side of SR 164 in an open field.

The driver of the SUV left the scene before troopers arrived.

Troopers’ initial investigation determined that the SUV was a black 2014 to 2020 black Acura MDX with silver trim, according to the WSP. The vehicle should have also had damage to the front driver’s headlight area, and be missing part of the front driver’s bumper, driver’s side mirror and driver’s side silver door handle.

Later that day, the Enumclaw Police Department contacted the WSP after they impounded a vehicle following a collision.

In that incident, the driver struck two other vehicles and was arrested for investigation of suspected impairment.

WSP detectives later confirmed that the vehicle involved in the collision was the same vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. They are now actively investigating the driver in connection to the pedestrian’s death on SR 164.
