Man arrested for 2021 Tacoma murder, rape

Three teens arrested after Christmas Day shooting at Tacoma gas station

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police have arrested a man nearly five years after they say he raped and killed a woman.

On Oct. 12, 2021, at approximately 7:33 a.m., Tacoma Police officers responded to an area off of East M Street for reports of a body along the side of the roadway. This area is off I-5, near McKinley Park.

Medics confirmed the woman was dead at the scene.

The circumstances of her death were unknown at the time, but in June of 2022, the medical examiner determined the 30-year-old died of “asphyxia due to compression of the neck” and that her manner of death was homicide.

On Sept. 3, Tacoma Police arrested a 59-year-old man in connection with her case.

He was booked into Pierce County Jail for first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree rape.

Tacoma Police told KIRO 7 that at this time, it’s believed the rape charge is for the murder victim, though the investigation is still ongoing.
