Man accused of random fatal shooting in Burien goes before judge

BURIEN, Wash. — The man suspected of a random murder in Burien went before a judge Thursday morning, accused of shooting a 22-year-old man earlier this month.

Prosecutors said Thursday the suspect attempted to interfere with the case.

King County Prosecutors said Adolf Fei made a call to his girlfriend asking her to take down social media posts that may corroborate the case.

Prosecutors say posts by Fei's associates were attempting to interfere in the case and wanted the judge to institute a no-contact order.

The judge is still looking into the claims as the victim’s family grieves for the killing.

Shackled at the wrists, 23-year-old Fei, still behind bars on a $5 million bond, came to respond to charges for the first time at the Regional Justice Center in Kent Thursday morning.

The judge ordered KIRO 7 not to show his face, but Fei is seen in a previous Department of Corrections booking photo.

Fei pleaded not guilty to charges he shot and killed 22-year-old Edwin Lopez at Puget Sound Park on February 13.

On the day after the killing, Lopez's girlfriend and sister, told KIRO 7 they had been walking their dog at the park and were sitting in their car when Fei approached them, asked them if they had marijuana and when Lopez said, no, shot him twice and then ran away.

Lopez died at the scene.

As a felon, prosecutors say Fei was not allowed to have a gun.

KIRO 7 tried to speak to Fei's family in court Thursday, but they declined.

Fei is expected back in court in two weeks.
