Lynnwood police and paramedics resuscitate man after cardiac arrest

“Oh, my God, is he gone?” Shelley Goodwin said after Frank Pitts collapsed in their Lynnwood home. “What am I gonna do without him.”

Just before 7 a.m. on Jan 13, Lynnwood police responded to a report of an unresponsive man who had just collapsed.

According to the body-worn camera of the scene, Lynnwood officer Matthew Kruse arrived at the scene in his cruiser.

He ran out of the car and put on his gloves as he dashed through the parking lot. He bounded over the stairs and into their living room.

Frank was laying on the floor in front of a couch.

Shelley says the day was normal earlier. They had gone out to purchase a dryer, brought the new dryer home, and brought the old dryer out.

“I suggested we do more chores,” Shelley said. Frank suddenly collapsed, having suffered an apparent heart attack.

Shelley said Kruse was running so fast he didn’t touch the steps.

Kruse said he knew he had to get there quickly. “I know with CPR, the fast you do it, the better likelihood of survival,” he said.

Medics with South County Fire soon arrived and took over the scene.

Frank has made a full recovery.

The Lynnwood Police Department shared a video of the incident on social media on Wednesday.
