Lynnwood mother arrested

LYNNWOOD, Wash. — A mother was arrested Tuesday in Edmonds in connection with the death of her 2-year-old child.

The 44-year-old woman was booked on charges of first-degree manslaughter domestic violence, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Her 2-year-old child died in November 2022 in Lynnwood. Deputies responded to reports of an unresponsive child and performed lifesaving measures before he was transported to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds, where he was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, deputies determined the child had been in his mother’s care the evening before and the morning after his death.

Investigators seized suspected fentanyl, suspected heroin, and other drug paraphernalia from the residence.

“The investigation continued for several months and involved numerous search warrants, the collection and processing of a large amount of forensic evidence, laboratory testing, toxicology testing, and an autopsy conducted by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner,” the sheriff’s office stated.

In July 2023, detectives referred charges to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for first-degree manslaughter domestic violence.

“After the lengthy investigation, including the completion and review of laboratory and toxicology testing and the medical examiner’s findings, the Prosecutor’s Office filed charges for first-degree manslaughter domestic violence,” authorities stated.

The woman was arrested in the 23010 block of Highway 99. She was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
