A Lynden teen has been chosen as one of 54 K-12 students across the United States and territories to win the Doodle for Google contest in their state/territory.
15-year-old Josie Hendricks of Lynden Christian High School was chosen as the 2022 winner for Washington.
In January, Google asked students across the country to submit their ideas for the 14th annual Doodle for Google contest.
“I care for myself by … " was this year’s Doodle prompt.
“I created this Doodle because I care for myself by remembering,” Hendricks said. “My Doodle is of a tire swing that was in my grandparents backyard. I used to climb and swing, not burdened by life — remembering an escape from homework and stress.”
To celebrate, Google sent Hendricks and the 53 other winners Google hardware and “swag,” and held celebrations in each of their hometowns to showcase their artwork.
