Today people across the country are honoring those who died in service to our country.

Bothell: Northshore Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony

Time: 10 a.m.

Location: Pop Keeney Stadium (9809 NE 188th St, Bothell, WA 98011)

About: The Northshore School District will hold a dedication ceremony for the district's newly installed Veterans Memorial at Pop Keeney Stadium. The names engraved in the memorial represent Northshore alumni who lost their lives while serving in the performance of their duty in the United States Military to preserve our country's freedom.

During the ceremony there will be a presentation of colors, comments by a number of individuals including District staff and Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with traditional military honors such as of the folding and presentation of the flag and taps.

Joint Base Lewis-McChord: Joint Base Lewis-McChord honors fallen Service Members in Memorial Day Ceremony

Time: 11:30 a.m.

Location: Camp Lewis Cemetery on JBLM Lewis Main. Visitors who wish to attend the JBLM ceremony will be required to obtain a pass from the JBLM Visitor Center at exit 120 on Interstate 5. Signs will direct attendees to the cemetery.

About:  Col. Nicole Lucas, Joint Base Lewis-McChord garrison commander, will be the guest speaker. She will place a wreath on the marker honoring the Soldiers, Airmen, Civilians, men, and women who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of the United States of America.

The I Corps Band will provide the music, and an Army & Air Force Honor Guard will present the colors. A salute battery will fire a 21-gun salute to honor fallen comrades, followed by the playing of Taps.

In addition to the ceremony on JBLM, Soldiers and Airmen will participate in 9 Memorial Day observances throughout the Puget Sound region, to include providing the guest speaker for the Washington State Capitol Rotunda Memorial Day Ceremony in Olympia on May 27, at 10:30 a.m.

Kent: Memorial Day program at Tahoma National Cemetery

Time: 1 p.m.

Location: Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042. Main flag pole assembly area.

About: Special event honoring our veterans  Past, Present and Those in Harm's Way. It is that time of year to remember those who have given their all for our freedom. Gold Star families will share their stories. The ceremony will begin with a flyover by the Steerman Group, using WWII biplanes.

Kent: Memorial Day at St. Patrick Cemetery

Time: 10:15 a.m.

Location: St. Patrick Cemetery, Orillia Rd S & S 204th St

About: Memorial Day at St. Patrick Cemetery will start with the US flag at half-staff. A Bagpiper will start playing at 10:15 am followed at 10:30 am by the Celebration of Mass.

Following Mass, the US flag will be raised from half-staff to full mast by a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard as the National Anthem is played by a Trumpeter. Then a wreath will be laid at the grave of a veteran and the day's ceremonies will conclude with the Trumpeter solemnly playing taps.

The Mass and other ceremonies are held outdoors and it's suggested you bring a lawn chair.

Lakewood: Mountain View Memorial Park Hosts Free Memorial Day Service to Honor American Heroes

Time: 2-3 p.m.

Location: Mountain View Memorial Park, Garden of Honor, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499

About: The free service will feature a wreath-laying ceremony, special remarks from Col. Jonathan M. Chung and a riderless tribute by the Buffalo Soldiers (new for this year). Members of the American Legion, Pierce County Veterans Advisory Council and Veterans of Foreign Wars will attend. Complimentary hot dogs and light refreshments will be provided. Horseback rides will be available for a small donation.

Lynnwood: Northshore Veterans Memorial Dedication Ceremony

Time: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Location: Northwest Veterans Museum, Lynnwood Heritage Park at 19921 Poplar Way, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

About: The NWVM will be open on Monday, May 27, 2019 to commemorate Memorial Day by honoring all those that have given their lives for our country and our freedom. Bring your veterans to the museum so we can thank and honor them and bring your whole family to learn about the tremendous sacrifices our veterans have made for the country.

Mill Creek: Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony

Time: Ceremony: 9 a.m., Parade: 11 a.m.

Location: Ceremony: Veterans Monument, 15429 Bothell-Everett Hwy (at Library Park).  Parade: Main Street in Mill Creek (Between LA Fitness,15024 Main St., and City Hall North, 15720 Main St.)

 About: Ceremony: The ceremony includes remarks from the mayor, a prayer from the Mill Creek police chaplain, a laying of a wreath, singing of the National Anthem by the Mill Creek Chorale, and a flag raising ceremony. Community members will have an opportunity to pay their respects by laying carnations at the monument to honor those who have given their life in the service of our country.

Parade:  Join the Mill Creek community in honoring those who have died in active service to the United States at the largest Memorial Day parade north of Seattle.  The emcee will be located by University Bookstore (15311 Main St / corner of 153rd Street SE). 

The Grand Marshal of this year's parade is the USS Ralph Johnson Sailor of the Year, Fire Controlman First Class (Surface Warfare) Ross D. Woody.

Renton: City of Renton Honors Veterans on Memorial Day

Time: 1 p.m.

Location: Veterans Memorial Park, 523 Third Avenue, Renton, WA 98057. Parking is available nearby at 200 Mill Avenue South.

About: City of Renton's annual Memorial Day ceremony. Ceremony will include representatives from VFW Posts #1263 and #3436 and American Legion Post #19, as well as the Renton Police Department Color Guard and VFW Post #1263 Ceremonial Honor Guard.  Veterans Memorial Park features five walls in the shape of a star which represent the five branches of the service. Tiles engraved with the names of veterans are mounted on the walls

Seattle: 93rd Annual Memorial Day Service Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park

Time: Concert: 1:30 p.m., service: 2 p.m.

Location: 11111 Aurora Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98133

About: Volunteers from local organizations place flags on all the graves in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery early Monday followed by a 1:30 p.m. concert with patriotic selections. The service of remembrance begins at 2 p.m.

Seattle: Memorial Day Ceremony

Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Location: Museum of Flight, 9404 E. Marginal Way, Seattle, WA 98108

About: The Museum of Flight recognizes Memorial Day with a musical performance by the Boeing Employee Concert Band, followed by a special ceremony commemorating fallen US Service Members.

Keynote Speaker Lt Dave Cable, U.S. Navy A-6 Intruder Pilot and Vietnam Veteran.

Veterans and active U.S. Military personnel receive FREE admission to the Museum with identification.
