Police investigating fatal shooting in downtown Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — Police responded to a fatal shooting Saturday evening in downtown Everett.

Officers were near California Street and Rockefeller Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. when they heard gunfire and responded to the area it came from.

They encountered a man believed to be in his late 40s who had been shot and immediately rendered first aid.

Additional officers secured the area so Everett fire officials could transport the victim to a nearby hospital. He succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

The area around the scene was locked down, preventing spectators from leaving the downtown area after Saturday’s Everett Silvertips game.

A police K-9 searched the area, but officers were unable to locate a suspect.

Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate. No suspect has been identified at this time.
