2 dead, 2 injured in stabbings, shooting after domestic disturbance at housewarming party in Bellevue, police say

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Two people were killed and two others injured at a housewarming party Saturday in Bellevue, police said.

Officers were called about 7:30 p.m. to an apartment tower, located in the 900 block of 111th Ave. NE, for reports of shots fired and a possible stabbing.

When police arrived, one person was found dead, two others critically injured, and another in serious condition, authorities said.

Police said Sunday that the suspect stabbed a family member and two others at the party.

Lifesaving measures were performed on a critically injured person but police said they died at the scene. The other two victims were taken to the hospital.

Police said that all the people involved in the fatal event appeared to know one another.

A witness told KIRO 7 a person at the party had too much to drink and acted violently.

“He got belligerent drunk. Things escalated to a further extent. My friend was trying to watch him to make sure he’d be OK being drunk. They got into an argument,” the witness said.

When that person was told to stop, a witness said he pulled out a knife and stabbed three people at the party.

“Everybody was trying to fight him and get the knife from him, and he kept on taking stabs at people,” the witness said.

Police confirmed three people were stabbed.

According to that same witness, one of the victims carried a gun and fatally shot the suspect.

“I heard three shots. And I know it was at close distance. From what it looked like, one shot was in the head, but I can’t say for sure,” the witness told KIRO 7.

Police did not confirm whether one of the persons who died was the stabbing suspect but said there was no threat to the community.

The witness KIRO 7 interviewed said he’s sure that one of his best friends was among the victims.

“I was really worried about my friend because he got stabbed. And he had a big gash on his stomach, so I was worried about that,” the witnesses said.

On Sunday, police said the deceased victim is a 21-year-old man from Renton. The other two victims are a 22-year-old woman from Bellevue who has since been released from the hospital, and a 24-year-old man from Oregon who is in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.

The deceased suspect is a 41-year-old man from Burien.
