STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — A human skull found in the 2800 block of Deep Lake Boundary Rd in Stevens County in early September has been identified as Jason Anderson, a 25-year-old who went missing in February of 2024.

According to a statement from the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson was last seen walking away from a residence on Deep Lake, approximately half a mile from where the skull was found.

The office said, on September 22, deputies returned to the property to retrieve a femur bone that had also been found by the Deep Lake Boundary property owner’s dogs.

On September 27, the office said the county’s search and rescue team conducted an “extensive” search of the area and recovered another bone. The office says it is not yet clear is human.

Another search with human remains detection dogs is planned for this weekend, the office said.
