FREDERICKSON, Wash. — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human remains were found in the woods in Fredrickson.
Deputies were called to 176th Street East around 11 a.m. on Wednesday after someone made the discovery.
Detectives and forensic personnel showed up to begin the death investigation and collect evidence.
It’s unclear how long the body has been there.
According to the sheriff’s office, the remains were not easy to identify because of how far along it was in the decomposition process.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the identity of the person and how they died.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
