Homeless camp to be cleared at Capitol Hill park

SEATTLE — Seven Hills Park on Seattle’s Capitol Hill is about to be cleared of tents and items belonging to homeless people who are living there, according to the Capitol Hill Seattle blog.

The camp on East Howell Street, a few blocks east of Cal Anderson Park, appeared around the start of the pandemic.

An order to remove all personal property was posted at the park on Tuesday. It said everything needed to be removed from the park by 9 a.m. Thursday.

The notice was posted around the same time Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell spoke about homelessness during his State of the City address.

His plans include:

• Developing a new group called the Unified Care Team to streamline efforts to help those living on the street.
• Creating a better way for people to report concerns about encampments.
• Announcing a range of new housing options to help the homeless next week.
