In a press release Thursday, the U.S. Forest Service announced High Rock Lookout at Gifford Pinchot National Forest will remain closed through the end of October for continued repairs.
The announcement comes just over two months after vandals destroyed the historic fire lookout in Ashford.
According to the Forest Service, the park has been working to restore the lookout since 2020 and has struggled to raise the money for another round of repairs after about 40% of the glass in the building was destroyed in June.
The Forest Service says that in order to protect visitors and construction workers, the area around the lookout will be closed for the remainder of the project.
