Skyway Fire responded to a hazmat incident in Auburn on Monday morning. A PIO from the department confirmed a spill of muriatic acid, a type of hydrochloric acid commonly used for some cleaning, in the Muckleshoot Health and Wellness Center.
Crews have now neutralized the spill and are going through the decontamination process, and the building will be turned over to staff shortly.
When employees came in this morning, they saw the spill, called 911 and evacuated the center.
A hazmat team is going in to determine how much acid spilled and the effects of the acid potentially mixing with other nearby chemicals.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
