SPANAWAY, Wash. — A man is dead after a stand-off between him and law enforcement on Wednesday evening in Spanaway.
Officers were called to 173rd Street South and A Street South.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the stand-off started when a deputy went to check on a van.
He was reportedly shot at by a man inside the van.
The deputy was not injured.
Authorities did not say if the deputy fired back at the suspect.
SWAT and crisis negotiators were called to the scene.
The Sheriff’s Department stated that the suspect was found dead in his vehicle by SWAT.
Other details were not immediately made available.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team was called to the scene to investigate.
