Gray truck spotted fleeing scene of illegal elk killing in Asotin County

Suspect's truck in illegal elk hunt

ASOTIN COUNTY, Wash. — Police with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are looking for help to identify a truck captured driving away from the Chief Joseph Wildlife Area (WLA) in Asotin County, where a dead elk was found on October 13.

According to Washington State Law, it is illegal to kill an elk during the official hunting season with any gun of 24 caliber or larger unless the person obtains a special permit to do so.

An image posted by the department on Facebook shows the animal dismembered. The department does not say what it believes the suspect may have used to kill the animal.

The vehicle, a gray truck with black rims, was seen on Joseph Creek Road, transporting a large set of elk antlers.
