Grandmother of 15-year-old shooting victim: ‘I don’t wish this on any family’

SEATTLE — The grandmother of a 15-year-old boy killed in a downtown Seattle shooting is calling for a bigger police presence and an end to the violence.

Michael Del Bianco was shot last week at Third and Pike, and later died at the hospital.

Seattle Police are investigating the shooting, which was one of several violent crimes in that corridor.

“We have to protect our city, we have to protect our children, otherwise this kind of stuff happens,” said Jodi Gulling, who said she raised Michael along with “a village.”

Gulling said Michael loved sports and river rafting, and was loved by many.

“I don’t wish this on any family at all and I don’t want it to happen again. He was 15 years old, he had his whole life. He’ll never go to school dances, he’ll never get married, he’ll never go to college. These were things that were robbed from him,” Gulling said.

Seattle Police have released few details about the shooting, but say the investigation is open and active.
