SEATTLE — Mariner fans attending games can now save money and skip the hassle of looking for parking by riding Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail to and from Safeco Field on game days – for free – thanks to a new partnership.

The promotion begins on opening night Thursday, March 29, when the Mariners play the Cleveland Indians.  Fans just need a valid Mariners game ticket to ride Link Light Rail on game days, courtesy of the Mariners.

Through June 3, game tickets, either digital or paper, will be valid to ride Link Light Rail on game days starting three hours before first pitch through the end of Sound Transit's regular daily schedule. See the Link Light Rail schedule here.

Ticketholders can show their Mariners ticket on board the train if asked to present their ORCA card or light rail ticket.

Riders are encouraged to park for free at the Angle Lake light rail station in SeaTac or board the light rail at one of the stations along the route from SeaTac to the University of Washington.

There also are a number of paid garages downtown near the Westlake Center or other light rail stations that offer evening parking.

Safeco Field is served by light rail stations in Pioneer Square and the International District as well as two stations in SODO – the Stadium and SODO stations.

If you don’t want to drive to a light rail station, Uber is offering a discount for fans going to and from light rail stations at Angle Lake and the University of Washington. Fans who take Uber to or from those two stations on game days will receive $3.50 off their fare. The discount does not apply to other stations along the route.

The opening season pilot promotion is for Link light rail only and does not cover Sounder, ST Express and Metro buses.
