SEATTLE, Wash. — It was a beautiful October day today, and we are wrapping up this nice weekend with mostly clear skies and a very chilly night on the way. A frost advisory is posted for many places in the south sound area and Kitsap Peninsula. Temperatures will go down into the low 40s near the water, but they will drop to lower 30s in colder locations away from Puget Sound.
The frost advisory will extend until 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Tonight would be a good evening to bring in any tender plants or vegetation to avoid the potential for damaging frost, if you live in the advisory area, which includes southern King County, Pierce, Thurston, and Mason counties.
The weather forecast for next week looks good for Monday and most of Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the lower 60s, and, other than some increasing high clouds, both days should be rain free.
Late Tuesday and into Wednesday, it looks like an atmospheric river will deliver some rain toward Vancouver Island, and possibly northern counties in our area, including San Juan and Whatcom.
A ridge of high-pressure should build back over the state Thursday and Friday and set up an offshore wind, which will warm us back up to near 70° by the end of the week. In fact, some of our southern counties could be in the lower 70s on Friday afternoon! Based on computer forecast models today, Seattle would hit 71° on Friday.
The extended outlook does not continue 70° weather after Friday. In fact, we would cool back to the low 60s and upper 50s by the weekend and into next week.
Mainly dry weather is on the way this week except for the chance for showers to the north of Seattle Wednesday.
