Friends, family of missing Seattle woman last seen at Mariners game not giving up hope

SEATTLE — Friends and family of a Seattle woman who hasn’t been seen since attending a Mariners game last Friday are holding out hope that they will see her again.

“We are not going to give up until we find her,” said Liz Latham, a friend of Leticia Martinez-Cosman.

Latham says she has known Martinez-Cosman since 2012.

“She was just always helpful and friendly, and her Buddhist practice was really, really strong,” said Latham.

Latham says she’s been in constant communication with Martinez-Cosman’s family, and that Leticia’s brother is determined to find her.

“He’s doing everything he can 24/7 to find his sister, like he’s been taking flyers to local businesses, restaurants, bars, handing them to everyone,” said Latham.

Latham says it’s not like Martinez-Cosman to disappear, especially because she’s a mother.

“I would like the family to know that everyone I know is praying for them, and praying for Leticia,” said Latham.

Martinez-Cosman’s brother, Ricardo Martinez, tells KIRO 7 he has been searching all over the internet for any sort of clue that can lead to finding his sister. He has also gone to bars near T-Mobile Park and West Seattle with photos of the alleged suspect to see if anyone knows anything about this.

“It’s just been a big roller coaster ride. But I have been trying to keep strong,” Martinez said.

He says he and his sister have a close relationship, and that she would periodically come over to his home just to say hi.

“Just early morning breakfasts on Saturday and take long walks on the beach,” Martinez said. “She’s just full of energy and full of life.”

He said given the amount of research he has done, he believes the man arrested Thursday in connection to his sister’s disappearance was with her at the Mariners game last Friday. He also believes the two met a month prior to the game outside a Seattle grocery store.

“It’s something that we just do. And you have to keep on ... you just gotta keep focused,” Martinez said.

He says after Thursday’s arrest, he and family are holding on to hope about finding Leticia.

“At this point, he’s got all the answers and we are just waiting for ... to find my sister,” Martinez said.

The Seattle Police Department confirmed with KIRO 7 that Martinez-Cosman’s disappearance is being investigated as a missing persons case, along with the King County Sheriff’s Office.

She is 58 years old, 135 pounds, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with green eyes and brown hair.

KIRO 7 talked with Mariners fans leaving Wednesday’s game who said this is shocking and that the stadium should be a safe place.

“We’re in unstable times, we just have to be vigilant about random things and just look out for each other. This is the time where we need to look out for each other,” said one fan.

KIRO 7 also reached out to the Mariners for comment. They sent the following statement:

“We are aware of the situation and take it very seriously. We have been in contact with law enforcement and have offered any assistance we can provide.”
