Friday skies are gradually clearing to sunny, with high temperatures warming into the mid to upper 50s and a few low 60s around the South Sound. High pressure is providing drier weather for us today.
The weekend weather will be produced by a low pressure tracking down the Pacific coastline from near Haida Gwaii all the way to Oregon. While the low passes the Washington coast, we will have cloudier skies Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Late Saturday night, the low will begin to spin rain over the Olympic Peninsula, Kitsap Peninsula, and on the San Juan Islands. Areas around the Canadian border are likely to receive some showers too.
The track of the low has wavered significantly from model run to model run, yet the overall trend has maintained that all areas east of Puget Sound waters will remain dry. There will probably be some spots with brief light rain, here and there, but largely the inland western Washington cities will stay mostly dry. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s.
Once the low swings into Oregon, it will drag a cool trough of low pressure overhead. The cooler air begins to filter in and cool temperatures down for highs in the 40s to mid-50s and lows in the 30s and 40s. On Tuesday, the track of lower pressure continues eastward to our south, which will spin additional clouds into western Washington briefly. High pressure resumes its dry power, with cooler temperatures expected to continue mid-week.
