FORKS, Wash. — A 49-year-old from Forks has been arrested for allegedly shooting a family member in the chest over the weekend.

On Oct. 18 around 8:11 p.m., dispatch got multiple 911 calls about a “disturbance” at a home on Terra Eden Street in Forks, just half a mile off Highway 101, near Sully’s Drive-In.

Multiple agencies responded, and when they arrived, they found a 44-year-old woman who had been shot in the chest by a family member.

According to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the victim was found at a neighbor’s house with a bullet wound to her upper torso area near her right shoulder.

She was taken to Forks Community Hospital and later flown to Harborview Medical Center for medical treatment.

CCSO said she is expected to survive her injury.

The suspected shooter was identified as a 49-year-old man.

The suspect was still on scene when law enforcement arrived, CCSO said.

According to CCSO, there had been a fight with other family members at the home before the shooting. Family members tried to restrain and disarm the man, CCSO said.

Forks police, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, and a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.

The suspect was booked into the Clallam County Jail for second-degree attempted murder domestic violence.
