First date ends with arrest in Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Wash. — According to the Bellevue police blotter, security at Lincoln Square in downtown Bellevue reported an incident on Thursday, May 13.

Police say a woman met a man at the mall for a first date and when he started writing things in chalk in various places outside Lincoln Square, the woman told police she got “nervous.”

Police say the man wrote multiple messages including, “Free Palestine” and “SUICIDE BOMBING IN THE MALL” which was drawn with a smiley face beneath it.

After officers located the man, the woman confirmed he had written the messages.

The 33-year-old Bellevue man was booked into jail for bomb threats and malicious mischief.

As of May 19, he is still in police custody.
