Firefighters battle 2-alarm commercial fire in SODO

SEATTLE — Firefighters battled a two-alarm commercial fire at a building on Wednesday evening in Seattle’s SODO area.

Crews were called to Seventh Avenue South and South Lander Street, just east of the Seattle Public Schools administration building.

A KIRO 7 photographer at the scene saw lots of smoke billowing from the building.

No injuries were reported.

Once crews were able to put out the fire and determine its cause, the Seattle Fire Department tweeted out a safety message: “Keep containers of oily rags in a cool place. Keep them out of direct sunlight. Keep them away from other heat sources. Check with your town for information on disposing of them.”
