KING COUNTY, Wash. — A 3-alarm fire broke out at a White Center bar Monday morning. The fire is the second one at the same location this year.
Crews were called to the Locker Room Bar & Grill in the 9600 block of 16th Avenue Southwest around 5:30 a.m. The business has been closed since the first fire there on Apr. 21.
Owner Rick Rovengo said he was already in recovery mode and now he’s got to try to raise his business from the ashes a second time.
“I couldn’t believe it, you know. That a fire could start, you know, because we have no power,” Rovengo said.
But Rovengo said he isn’t throwing in the towel. He’s determined to bring the Locker Room back in the exact spot on 16th Avenue Southwest where it has been for decades.
Crews fought the flames defensively from the outside.
The road was shut down from the fire scene to Roxbury.
On July 5, the Lumber Yard bar, which is located on the same street, was also damaged in what was deemed to be arson.
Just a couple months ago (Jul 5) I was standing right here - where Roxbury hits Delridge reporting on a fire at The Lumber Yard Bar in #WhiteCenter. Unfortunately, I came back this AM after the Locker Room, just a couple doors down caught fire for a 2nd time. @KIRO7Seattle pic.twitter.com/4JXj06AYXy

We’ve just arrived in #WhiteCenter where a thick gray smoke fills the air. This is the same block that burned twice (April and July) this year is up in flames again. Don’t know much at this time- I’ll update you on the situation ASAP. @KIRO7Seattle pic.twitter.com/I6KS2atiZh
