SEATTLE — The family of Issac Rios is calling for justice after he was shot and killed in Belltown over Labor Day weekend.
The shooting occurred just after 12:40 a.m. on Sunday in an area in front of KIRO 7, near Denny Way and Cedar Street.
Seattle Police Department confirmed the incident was one of three deadly shootings in the city over the holiday weekend.
Family members and friends gathered at the Belltown location to visit the site where the shooting took place and to demand accountability for his death.
Jonathan Rios, the victim’s brother, spoke about the deep support his brother provided throughout his life.
“If I was in a jam, I didn’t call my mom. I didn’t call my dad. I didn’t call my grandma. I didn’t call my aunties; I called Isaac. That’s who Isaac was for me,” Rios said.
Lovelee Segars said she was one of Rios’ best friends, but it went well beyond that; she said Rios filled the role of a sibling in her life.
“Since the first time I met Isaac, I’ve automatically had a brother in my life,” Segars said. “He was just this light in life everywhere he goes, everywhere he is. We would talk every day; it didn’t matter even if I was exhausted, he wanted to hear my voice.”
Naomi Williams, a friend of the victim, emphasized his selflessness toward others.
“Isaac would literally take the shirt off his back if we were cold,” Williams said. She was present when family and friends gave interviews but said that Issac Rios would have turned 21 years old on Oct. 10.
The Seattle Police Department has opened an online portal for the public to submit video evidence and information regarding the shooting.
Investigators urge anyone with details about the case to contact the department or upload evidence to the portal.
