A crack in the road caused by a broken expansion joint caused 10 miles of backup during rush hour traffic on Monday.
The crack was discovered just south of Albro Place near Boeing Field, just after 4 p.m.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said the crack will take a while to repair.
Drivers are being rerouted to Southbound 99 and other surface streets and should expect major delays.
The affected lanes reopened just after 7 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.
