In exclusive interview, ex-girlfriend of former Seahawk Chad Wheeler speaks out

“I had touched my face. I looked down, and there was blood on my hand,” said Alleah Taylor.

Her arm still in a sling, Taylor spoke exclusively to CBS. She shared new details about how she said ex-boyfriend and former Seahawk Chad Wheeler beat her in their Kent apartment last month.

“I remember getting up and running to the bathroom. Chad was standing by the bed, by the doorway. And he was sipping his smoothie, and he was like, ‘Wow, you’re still alive,’” Taylor said.

Wheeler allegedly choked her into unconsciousness twice.

“I’m grateful he didn’t grab me in that moment. I was able to run to the bathroom. He went back into the living room to continue eating. I texted his dad and told him that Chad was trying to kill me,” added Taylor.

Taylor said Wheeler’s dad called his son while she was still in the bathroom.

“He answered and didn’t have any worry at all. And Chad was, like, ‘I’m just eating dinner. Nothing’s going on.’ And that terrified me,” she recounted.

KIRO 7′s camera was there as Wheeler pleaded not guilty last week to several charges, including first-degree domestic violence assault. The offensive lineman has since been cut by the Seahawks. In court, his attorney blamed the attack on a one-off manic episode fueled by his bipolar disorder.

Taylor was also in court that day. And now she’s explaining why it was so important she was there.

“I didn’t want him to think that, that he had that power over me. That I wasn’t going to defend myself. And I thought, how easy would that be for him and his legal team to be able to say whatever they want without having to look me in the eye, without the judge having to see what he did to me,” Taylor said.

Taylor also said she wants Wheeler to go to prison so that he and others can understand the consequences of what happened.

You can hear more from Taylor on Wednesday on CBS This Morning.
